Birth Day (2001)
As a childbirth educator, this video is a must for normalizing the healthy, natural birth process. As a mother, this video was integral for preparing my family and myself for my second birth! I watched this video weekly with my two and half year old son ( I cry every time I see it!) as preparation for my homebirth. While my homebirth did not happen, what did happen was an even bigger miraculous, perfect birth experience! I found out my baby in utero was a footling breech,(one foot on my cervix, one foot tucked up)a presentation that has some recognizable risks, so my homebirth became a scheduled csection, much to my chagrin, and sorrow. Well, my baby and body decided we were going to have a natural perfect non surgical birth anyway! I watched Birth Day, and sure enough, went in to labor in the middle of the night...after staying at home for early labor, my husband and I left for the hospital....BOOM! My water broke in the car, and 20 minutes later, my perfect healthy footling breech baby was born, shocking all the doctors and nurses at a very reputable hospital! They had NEVER seen a woman give birth so ecstatically, without fear, just trusting in the process of this non typical birth...the doctor wanted to give me a csec, but I yelled "no! this baby is coming now!" and pushed out my son, Noah Jacob, one foot first, then his body, and head...it was glorious and liberating and beyond expectation and the birthing world will be talking about us for years to come...trusting the process, believing in birth, giving over to the pain all enabled us to have a stress free, magical experience!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Watch this video, trust in your body--GIVE BIRTH!!!
Having Your Baby!
In searching for the best aid in teaching expectant parents about childbirth, "Having Your Baby" surfaces as the most complete, the most useful, and the most balanced presentation available. As an adjunct to class, or especially for those who cannot get to a class, it beautifully prepares the expectant parents for the labor and birth process. The information is accurate and up to date, and the actual footage of hospital procedure and the birth process is extremely beneficial to see, as well as very tastefully presented. I highly recommend "Having Your Baby" as the best presentation on the subject.
The Miracle of Birth
If you are expecting a baby, or trying to have a baby, this is a great video. While it may be considered graphic here in the US, it shows the human body in its nature state. If you are having trouble conceiving, this video will give you reassurances that its actually quite difficult to conceive and you are not alone! I would highly recommend this video - especially at the price. You cannot take for granted having a healthy baby after watching this!
This video is VERY graphic, but fascinating just the same (not for people with a queasy stomach). As an expecting father, I found the video wonderful for knowing what is going on with my child and wife. I wish there had been more of the birth, but all of the information about the pregnancy was more helpful. After all, I'll get to see my child's birth, but I can't see what's going on inside my wife now! Wonderful information with a good presentation, especially in terms of the time-lapse photography, inside shots, and graphics.
Great Expectations - Laugh and Learn About Childbirth (2003 - 2 tapes)
I have viewed this set of tapes, part of the
tapes I have viewed more than once. One of the advantages of owning the tapes.
If you want to review it you have it. When I saw the tapes I couldn't believe
how much I learned even after having given birth to three children.
Giving Birth & Being Born (1995)
I watched this video several times in preparation of the birth of my first child and really loved it. As I had my mind set for an unmedicated natural childbirth I found it extremely helpful to see other women coping with labor and delivery without using drugs. It shows very nicely how essential moral support from husbands, as well as the medical staff is to make labor a unique and positive experience. I would definitively recommend this video to everybody who is interested in natural childbirth. It helps to understand the stages of labor and childbirth and reduces anxiety quite a lot.
Labor of Love Childbirth Class
As a second time parent, I found this video complete and informative. The information was presented in a humorous and entertaining manor. With my first pregnancy I attended a class at the hospital, it nearly put me to sleep. Sherry was fantastic and I enjoyed her wit, she made learning a joy. I learned so much more from her class then I did the one I took at the hospital. As a teacher myself, I can say, she is one of the best teachers I have observed teach almost any subject. I would highly recommend this video, even if you have already taken a class. If not this one is all you need. We loved being able to take this class at home. With both of us working, we found if difficult to find time to attend a class or find a baby sitter for our two year old. This was perfect, THANK YOU Sherry.
